About Safeguard.

Safeguard is a head injury management system that enables users to identify and respond in real time to head impacts suffered by rugby players. Safeguard improves player welfare by reducing the risk of Traumatic Brain Injuries sustained to players as well as acting as an aid in preventing the onset of neurodegenerative diseases.
The Safeguard Mouthpiece.

The Safeguard mouthpiece features integrated technology which detects when a player is at risk of a Traumatic Brain Injury. It alerts the sideline staff in real time via a smartphone app when a player is in danger. This enables the staff to act efficiently in assessing and treating the player. The mouthpiece also features an LED panel which is illuminated when a player has suffered a head trauma. This feature can alert the referee and teammates that the player has suffered a potentially dangerous injury.
The Safeguard App.

The Safeguard app has many features which help to improve player welfare. The app allows for multi-device connectivity which enables the coach/staff to keep track of an entire team wearing Safeguard mouthpieces from just one app. The app also provides advice on symptoms and how to respond to head traumas which can aid the coaches and staff in making well informed decisions on how to treat players suffering from serious head injuries. The app allows the user to look at player's previous head traumas which can aid the coach in choosing to rest player's who have suffered recent injuries. This can help to reduce the risk of injuries such as repeated concussion and secondary impact syndrome.
